Men's Water Polo Loses to Air Force 10-9 in OT to Finish 4th in WWPA

Nov. 18, 2007

Colorado Springs, Colorado - The Santa Clara men's water polo team finished their season in a 10-9 overtime loss to Air Force in the third place game of the WWPA Championships. The Broncos earn a fourth place finish in the WWPA.

Santa Clara trailed for most of the game and were down 5-2 at the end of the first half. And with just two and a half minutes go to in the game, found themselves looking at an 8-6 deficit. But Josh Early scored two of his three goals on the night to pull the team into a tie at the end of regulation.

In the first overtime period, Tommy Hendrickson scored one of his three goals to give the Broncos the lead, but Air Force came back with two goals in the second overtime period to claim victory.

Hendrickson and Early both scored hat tricks in the final game of the season for Santa Clara. Liam Farrell chipped in with two goals and Charlie Moore had one.

Tommy Hendrickson was named to the All-Tournament 1st team for his efforts this weekend. Hendrickson had six goals in three games for the Broncos in the WWPA Tournament.
